Objective of the Board:

LASO has been an organization that has offered many activities and events for Latin/Hispanic students, families and friends in the past, a small home away from home for many. We would like to continue these traditions and make some new ones along the way. The increasing enrollment and possible addition of a Latin American Studies program at WVU shows that the University City offers a solid place for individuals who wish to share their traditions and customs. We would like to make some cultural advancement to LASO by offering some different ways to gather and share our traditions and customs with others such as students, families and friends here in Morgantown.

Some of the things that we would like to do are to encourage community involvement and volunteerism so that we might share our backgrounds with others. We want to submit a proposal to have a charity event and donate to less fortunate individuals. Our belief is that we must work together to offer our understanding of others’ situations. Holidays are coming and the university offers many ways for our organization to show that we care and wish to be a part of those events also. We would like to see more involvement in University planned events as an organization as well.

We intend to promote the image of LASO in the Morgantown community to increase membership and awareness as well as build LASO so that it becomes even more recognizable around campus as an organization to be a member of.
